Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
