From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
